Shop Owner Refuses Refund to Grieving Parents

And the award for the worst customer service of 2013 might have already been won.
Nicholas Vachon had a pair of steel-toed boots under the tree – a gift from his mother. The 31-year-old mechanic and volunteer firefighter from Clarence-Rockland never got to see them, though, ashe died walking home froma Christmas party on December 15.
After the holidays, his grieving father gathered the strength to bring the shoes back to the Regional Shoe Repair storein Orléans store for a refund. The owner of the store refused, simply citing the store’s ‘no-refund’ policy. “These boots should fit you.”Mr. Vachon’s father says he was told.”You could use them to go trekking.”
We’ve still got 51 weeks left to find someone who understands compassion andcustomer service less than shop owner Luc Simard, but this is going to be tough to beat.
