Over the last week I’ve been in and around Vancouver, BC, Richmond, Bunaby, Coquitlam, etc. AlthoughI rented a car for most of it, I did take a taxi a few times just to ensure I didn’t get lost. I discovered a striking difference between Richmond Taxi – which I would take from my hotel to the venues, and Yellow Cab, which I used for the return trip.
The first trip in the Richmond Cab was terrifying. I watched with morbid fascination as the driver played with his GPS in one hand, and talked on his cell phone with the other. I have no idea what he was using to steer with…
The route he took us on was circuitous, and it cost me a full $15 more than any of the other cab rides. The second Richmond Cab driver got me there a little more directly, but drove so close to the car in front of us I thought we were attached.
My experience in the Yellow Cabs, however, was quite different. The drivers were polite and extremely friendly, and they seemed to actually be able to…well… drive. Guess who’s card I’ve got in my wallet for the next time I need a cab? You got it – Yellow Cab.
Yet another example of how good customer service makes a company more money!
